Engaging African Civil Society in the Field of AI

Amid the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, it is imperative that African civil society plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing initiatives around governance, ethics, and innovation. The program we propose aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations operating on the continent to actively participate in AI-related discussions and actions.Africa holds exceptional potential for leveraging AI, particularly in critical sectors such as health, education, and agriculture. However, the responsible and equitable adoption of these technologies requires collective mobilization, greater awareness, and tailored training. Our program seeks to provide resources, training, and exchange platforms to enhance understanding of AI-related issues while integrating the voices and concerns of local communities. We therefore invite civil society actors to join us in this transformative initiative. By collaborating with experts, researchers, and policymakers, we can create an ecosystem where AI is harnessed inclusively for the benefit of all. Together, we can ensure that progress in artificial intelligence not only supports economic players but also serves society as a whole, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in this new technological era. This program represents a unique opportunity to shape Africa’s digital future, and we firmly believe that civil society, as a change agent, is an indispensable partner in this journey.
